Post Commander:
Hope this newsletter finds everyone and their families in the best of Holiday health and spirits. Thanks for the donations and those who cooked and prepared food for the Thanksgiving Dinner. Veterans and Post Members were able to enjoy Turkey, Ham, and sides to include dessert. As part of strengthening our presence within the community, we were also able to reach out to Lemon Grove Fire Department who stopped by and received meals. The firefighters enjoyed the comradery and thanked the Post for the Veteran’s Day Meal and hospitality. The upcoming year will include even more community oriented activities and Post Events. Looking forward to another great year.
Sr Vice Commander:
Happy Holidays to all. During this time of celebration, we should all take a moment to take time out for ourselves, avoid burnout, and be considerate to those less fortunate. If you feel stressed, please reach out to someone in the post, a friend, or a family member for support or a compassionate ear. Come out and join us at our post meeting this month, as we will be serving fried chicken, potato/macaroni salad, dinner rolls, and desert. We continue to work hard in our attempt to register new post members. We have made phone calls to encourage existing members to renew their membership and have hosted membership drives. If you have any recommendations for growing our post membership or have folks you would like to join our merry band of Veterans, please ask them to email me at Vfw2082@gmail.com and include Membership in the subject line. I look forward to seeing many of you around the post this holiday season. Cheers, Todd
President VFW Riders:
We would like to thank all who were able to come out and support our last pizza party, Marine Corps Birthday, as it was a fun time with lots of good food, prizes, and music. We were visited by the CA VFW Riders President and many from our local community. Friendly reminder, Bike Night is not just for the motorcycle community but open for all VFW members and their sponsored guests. It is our hope you can come out and support our Glazed Ham Dinner on Tuesday, December 19th. Meals will be served at 6pm with mashed potatoes, green Beans, mac & cheese, and a dessert until sold out. There will be music, raffles, and an ugliest sweater prize. Our ride in November was an amazing success, riding over 750 miles in support of “Run for the Cross”, in the Mojave Desert, recognizing two Veterans Day ceremonies and a quarterly, CA VFW Rider’s Presidents meeting. The other half of our crew supported the American Legion Post in Escondido with the Escondido, Vet Fest parade. Great time representing our post at both of these events. Our ride in December is being planned, please contact our road CAPT at Vfw2082@gmail.com for more information and include VFW Riders, Post 2082 in the subject line. Also, if you are interested in learning more about the VFW Riders, please email us at Vfw2082@gmail.com for more information and include VFW Riders in the subject line. We hope to see you around the community and at our post. Cheers, Viper
Jr Vice Commander:
Happy Holidays to everyone. Would like to thank everyone for their contributions, donations and participation in the many events the Post hosted throughout the year. I am in the process of developing a long-range schedule of Post events to allow better planning and coordination. Process improvement is the key, so feel free discuss with me any input or recommendations you may have.
Veteran’s Day Dinner was a huge success and appreciate those who turned out to commemorate such a treasured holiday. Post members showed up in full force as well as other Veterans and their family/friends as well.
Keep your eyes on the bar TV Monitor (behind cash register) where upcoming events, drink specials and Post Calendar are displayed.
Chaplain:
Would like to thank everyone for the many contributions and donations throughout the year. Our Post collected over 500 pounds of canned, dry and pet foods for distribution to the community. We also hosted two successful Blood Drives for the San Diego Blood Bank, averaging 20 pints per drive. We were able to sign up 72 people for our Birthday Celebrations and we will continue to host the celebrations in the upcoming year as well. The sign-up sheets are located on the Post Information Board.
Auxiliary President
We are almost at the end of the year. Can you believe it! Another year flies by for us. We are planning a children’s Christmas party on December 10, 202310 upstairs in the Paul Jula Hall. There will be gifts, treats and hot chocolate for the kids. It will be a fun event for the kids. Thank you to all that came and supported my dinner. I want to thank my volunteers, Debbie and Tony and Rosie for their help. I appreciate all the hard work. It was a successful dinner and thanks to all my guests that came to support our Auxiliary. I also want to thank Linda, Mike and Angela for cooking a great breakfast this past weekend. We will not be having a parking lot sale until the month of February. If anybody wishes to cook for the Auxiliary, please let me know. We are looking for more volunteers to cook. May everyone have a safe and blessed holiday season with their families and friends. Safe travels for everyone flying this season.
Thank you,
Denise Swerdloff Auxiliary President.
