Dear Comrades and Auxiliary,
Well, all good things must come to an end. This will be my last official newsletter after 12 years. It has been an honor to serve as your Commander these past 12 years. I'd like to
thank all who supported me throughout the years and to the ones who assisted me in
repairs. I couldn't have done it without your help.
A special thank you to Sandy for always being there to assist me with all the meals and
even with some of the repairs.
I'd also like to thank Dave Moran and Rick Askew for all their support throughout the
years, we were a good team.
As far as my story, I ended with chapter 20. But to make a long story short, I ended up
serving 13 months in Vietnam and came home from Vietnam September 19th, 1969. One
year to the date that my friend SGT. Albert Banuelos was KIA September 19, 1968.
I hope our incoming Commander and officers will continue my Legacy to Michael A.
Monsoor VFW Post 2082.
Yours in Comradeship
Tony Bordine
Message from the Auxiliary President
The first thing I would like to mention is a big congratulations to our 2023–2024 slate of officers for having assumed their positions and welcoming our new Post Commander, Quinton Taylor.
Well, June has been a very busy month for me as I personally retired from my career with the
school district and went on vacation to visit my family in Virginia and brought my grandson
back to stay with me for a couple weeks. Needless to say, we have been very busy at
our post. I want to thank all the people that came out for my lasagna dinner. It was very successful. I will be cooking more in August now that I am retired. I also want to thank Linda Ledesma and her crew for all the hard work cooking breakfast. Her next breakfast will be held on July 16.
Our VFW Riders have been very active and busy bringing dinners to our club. I appreciate
all your hard work to all the volunteers who participate. And as an Auxiliary, we continue to
support the VFW Riders. Anything you need just speak with me and I will do the best to help
you out.
We had a successful barbecue to celebrate the Fourth of July. Huge turnout and great food. I
love to see everyone and I love that we can work together as a team. I’m going to try to do
more meals now that I have more time as I retired. I love to dedicate my time to the
veterans of my post and remember if there’s anything that anybody needs, please feel
comfortable reaching out to me I will do my best to help you.
Mike and Teresa Simmons will be cooking their fish dinner on July 21. You don’t want to miss
out on this fantastic dinner. There will be a sign-up list for this dinner.
Our parking lot sale is this Saturday, July 8, and I am looking forward to seeing everybody.
We are also looking for donations of baked goods for the parking lot sale. And we are
always looking for volunteers especially in the morning to help Rosie set everything up. Even
if you can give an hour of your time that will make a difference.
Enjoy your summer spend time with your friends and family and have a safe one.
Sincerely,
Denise Swerdloff
President
