January 2024 Post Leadership Letter

Post Commander:

Greetings, Comrades! I hope this Newsletter finds everyone in the best of health and spirits. January brings us a New Year, with new challenges. Continued team efforts and effective communication will enable the Post to overcome future challenges. I would like to thank Rosie and the Auxiliary for organizing a successful Kid’s Christmas party on short notice. Everyone, especially the kids, had a great time!! We also purchased Christmas gift cards for the Sailors of our namesake USS Michael Monsoor and donated hundreds of pounds of food to the Heavens Window Food Pantry. Thanks to our Chaplain, Laurie, for making this happen. I would like to thank Andrea, Jean, Rick and all the volunteers who continue to keep our Post/Canteen a welcoming place that fosters comradery and for our members to decompress.

This is your Post. We are always adding new members, so feel free to introduce yourself and

build friendships. Every member is important, and our Post is only as good as we all make it. If

you have any ideas/suggestions or wish to be more proactive in Post events there are plenty of opportunities. Our Post meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm and House Committee meetings on the first Thursday of the month at 5:00 pm. Those meetings are open to members and the ideal venue to bring forward any ideas or express concerns. If you are involved in any community activities, please let me know as I am always looking to schedule events that will increase our Veteran’s and Post presence.

Sr Vice Commander:

Commander: Happy New Year! It is my hope that 2024 brings everyone happiness,

good health, and prosperity. I hope you can come out and join us at our next post meeting as

we will continue to be serving food beginning at 5:30pm. The New Year means a renewed commitment to growing our post membership. In the coming months we will be meeting up with new veterans on bases, continuing to make phone calls to encourage existing members to renew their membership, and host some very exciting membership drives.  If you have any recommendations for growing our post membership or have folks you would like to join our merry band of veterans pls ask them to email me at Vfw2082@gmail.com and include Membership in the subject line.  Cheers, Todd

President VFW Riders:

We would like to thank all who were able to come out and support our last bike night with a delicious ham dinner, ugly sweater event, and recognition for our Pearl Harbor Veterans. As always, it was a great time with great people and an awesome way to spread some holiday spirit. Our monthly bike nights will be temporarily discontinued, as we explore options of a new format and maybe even different days/times of the week. More to follow on new these changes. Our monthly ride saw us departing Motorcycle Monkey and zipping through the back country of East County on our way over to Sunrise Highway. We stopped at The Outpost by Valley Farm for some BBQ before heading down into Julian to visit the Julian American Legion Post 468 and then back to our home post VFW Post 2082 - Michael A. Monsoor. Be on the lookout for our 2024 monthly ride schedule coming soon to a social media outlet near you. Our ride in January is being planned to be local, so please contact our Road CAPT at Vfw2082@gmail.com for more information and include VFW Riders, Post 2082 in the subject line. Also, if you are interested in learning more about the VFW Riders, please email us at Vfw2082@gmail.com for more information and include VFW Riders in the subject line. Cheers, Viper.
